From a very young age, I was able to understand the needs of animals by reading their energy, body language, and vocal cues. My Aunt — a holistic healing practitioner for humans — guided me as I began exploring the world of holistic care, helping me develop a strong sense of both self and my innate connection with animals. That connection was tested and deepened when my dog KC was diagnosed with late-stage osteosarcoma and given just three months to live. I turned to a well-known acupuncturist and animal bodywork practitioner in Seattle, and through weekly treatments and Chinese herbal support, KC’s prognosis of three months became far more — additional time filled with comfort, joy, and companionship. It was a profound experience that changed the course of my life. After KC passed in 2019, my passion for animal well-being was reignited.
